We should all work together to help keep the community safe. Our Facebook group was started over 10 years ago with this purpose in mind and was designed to be inclusive and open for ALL residents and people who have a connection to the community (renters, homeowners, teenagers, guests, local officials, home business owners, etc). It has a broad appeal and currently about twice the membership of the HOA group. The newer HOA Facebook group is fine but not everyone in the community is a homeowner or cares about HOA stuff. So if you have a message that you want to get out to more people that is relevant to our community, you are welcome to post here: Nisqually Meadows Facebook Group

This year's Community Yard Sale is scheduled for June 2 - 4, 2017 (Fri to Sun). The HOA will help advertise and promote this event. Residents that participate are required to obtain their permits from the City of Yelm. Permits are free and may be obtained simply by filling out a form at the City Administration building on 206 McKenzie St SE. Last year's Yard Sale was a big success with over 25 homes participating. This year we are looking for greater attendance and we're having even more interest. Why not do a spring cleaning and make some money at the same time?
The 2016 Annual Meeting will be held Saturday, October 15th, 2016, 9:30 - 11:00 am at the Prairie Hotel, Bald Hill Conference Room, 700 Prairie Park Lane, Yelm, WA 98597.
Your attendance, either in person or by proxy, is important. We'll vote to elect a new HOA Board of Directors, discuss issues that affect the neighborhood including the HOA dues increase, the 2017 budget, and allow for a question and answer period. The HOA Board will be prepared to answer questions regarding the status of our HOA. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please consider filling out a ballot and/or proxy so that your vote will count. You can complete the ballot and/or fill out the proxy form with the name of another lot owner who will attend the meeting and have them bring the ballot form and/or proxy to the meeting. You may also check the box that allows the Nisqually Estates Board of Directors to vote on your behalf and return your ballot and/or proxy form to a Board member prior to the meeting. There will be a question and answer period at the meeting. In order to ensure that your questions are addressed at the annual meeting, please mail them to us or submit them to a Board member. In order for questions to be adequately researched and answered at the Annual Meeting, the questions must be received no later than October 1st. Please mark your calendar and plan on attending. We look forward to seeing you there! The HOA Board is sending out a landscaping crew to cut back and remove tree limbs that are overhanging the sidewalk easement throughout our development. Many of the tree limbs are interfering with people walking on the sidewalks and are presenting a safety hazard. The crew has been instructed to cut enough branches back to allow at least a 8' walking clearance.
The work will be conducted on the morning of Tuesday, August 30th, 2016. While we are sponsoring this work just along the sidewalks, we are also asking the crew to dispose of any tree branches that residents have trimmed along the non-sidewalk side of the road. If you would like to trim your own tree and have the crew remove the branches, please leave them near the road at the base of each tree and they will be removed. Thank you for your cooperation! We are seeking homeowners who are interested in running for a Board position for the 2016-2017 year. The date of the next annual Nisqually Estates Homeowners Association (HOA) Meeting is set for Saturday, October 15th, 2016. It will be held from 9:30 – 11:00 am in the Bald Hills Conference of the Yelm Prairie Hotel. Same location as last year.
In accordance with the By-laws, there will be five (5) HOA Board positions open for voting, each with a term running until the next annual meeting in 2017. The positions are: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and Board Member at Large (ACC Chairperson). Homeowners do not run for a specific position. They are first elected to the board in general (the top 5 vote-getters are elected), then position assignments are decided by consensus among those elected, based on what each individual is best suited or desires to fill. If you are a homeowner in good standing and would like to have your name put on the preliminary ballots being sent out in early September, please send an email to the Board at [email protected] or contact a current board member no later than Thursday, September 1st, 2016. We must have either an email or something in writing if you wish to be placed on the ballot ahead of time. Qualified homeowners can still be nominated and voted on at the meeting even if they are not on the initial pre-printed ballot, but they must be physically present at the meeting. Thank you for your consideration. We sincerely encourage homeowners to run for a Board position and help our great neighborhood continue to improve. This is your opportunity to get involved and make changes if you feel there is a better way to do something! The SE Thurston Fire Authority and local law enforcement are strongly discouraging the use of fireworks this year. Likewise, because of the extreme dry conditions in our community, the HOA Board is also strongly discouraging the use of fireworks, particularly airborne fireworks, in our neighborhood due to the increased risk of grass fires, property damage and personal injury.
While the use of fireworks on private property or public streets is not banned by local government, we are prohibiting their use in our common areas (the community park and retention fields). We are also recommending that your front and back yards be well watered and kept moist to help prevent the spread of fires. Please remember to clean up your fireworks and be respectful of your neighbors property. Have a safe and Happy 4th of July! |
