Please let us know how you fared during the power outage on Monday, March 12th in the morning. Many people had significant electrical damage when the power came back on. Several homeowners had their furnaces and breaker boxes damaged. Although PSE considered the outage an act of G-d, some homeowners want the HOA to look at the possibility of raising the issue to PSE. Let us know if you were affected and if you want us to call PSE.

Pretty rough night, we saw the transformer blow which caused the outage.Quite a loud boom and light show. Have these homeowners checked with their home insurance which should help with the costs?

Thanks for your comment. I know of at least 8 homes in the neighborhood that sustained significant damage to furnaces and other appliances. We had a whole house surge protector installed in our breaker box panel. It absorbed most of the surge and needed to be replaced ($60) but it probably saved us hundreds more. It's a relatively low cost thing to have an electrician install if there is room in your panel. I think it's kind of unusual for our neighborhood to be hit so hard and was wondering if any other Yelm neighborhoods had similar problems. I'm guessing we were relatively close to the transformer that blew up and that is the reason for the powerful surge.
