Please be safe and considerate this Independence Day (4th of July). Celebrate our Independence in style but please don't drink and drive. Please be safe with your fireworks and remember to be considerate of your neighbors.

Yelm Municipal Code. 5.32.030 Sale, possession and discharge of fireworks.
Common fireworks may be used or discharged only between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on the twenty-eighth day of June to the sixth of July, and on July 4th between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 midnight, and from 6:00 p.m. on December 31st until 1:00 a.m. on January 1st of the subsequent year.

Annual Community Yard Sale!

The Board would also like to announce that this year's Community Yard Sale is scheduled for May 2 - 4 (Fri to Sun). The HOA will advertise and promote the event through our website, Facebook group and local newspapers. Residents that participate are required to obtain their permits from the City of Yelm. Permits are free and may be obtained simply by filling out a form at the City Administration building on 206 McKenzie St SE. Last year's Yard Sale was a huge success with over 28 homes participating. This year we are looking for greater attendance and we're having even more interest. Why not do a spring cleaning and make some money at the same time?

At the Yelm Area Chamber of Commerce's luncheon this past Wednesday,Mayor Ron Harding delivered his "State of the City" address and also unveiled Yelm's new revamped website (http://www.ci.yelm.wa.us). Folks, our city is well managed, growing quickly and doing great things! For example, Yelm is moving forward with building a new skate park and a down-sized community center with grants from Thurston County and Washington State (i.e. this is not costing any resident additional taxes through new bonds or levies). If you have a chance, check out the new website and the State of the City briefing slides on the right hand side.

2014 HOA Annual Dues

For homeowners who have not yet taken care of 2014 annual dues, this is a just reminder that a payment of $160.00 is due by Wednesday, January 15th, 2014. After that date, it is considered late and interest will accrue at the rate of 12% per year (or 1% per month). Homeowners posting payments on/after January 15th will be billed for the accrued interest. Liens will be filed on properties with balances that remain past due longer than 30 days. Please help the Homeowners Association [HOA] save administrative expenses by paying your dues on time. Checks/Money Orders should be made out to "Nisqually Estates HOA" and mailed to PO Box 2986, Yelm, WA 98597.

Holiday Lights Winners!

Congratulations to the McCalls of Red Fern Ct for having the best holiday lights this past December and winning the $75 Safeway Gift Card! Their property received the most votes from several sources including email, Facebook and the website blog. Honorable mention goes to the Boyeas of Farwest Ct, the Casons of Red Fern Ct and the Hamiltons of 105th Ave. Thank you to all the people who took the time to vote. We had an very strong response! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Everyone!

Happy Holidays Lighting Contest

Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Hanukkah! and a Merry ChrismaHanuKwanza! We'd like to announce the First Annual Holiday Lighting Contest. Please vote for the best holiday lighting or decoration effort by submitting the address of the best home by commenting on Facebook, this HOA website blog or by sending a separate email to the Board. The resident with the most votes will receive a $75 gift card. Please send us your vote by Friday, December 20th, 2013. The winner will be announced shortly before Christmas. Board members and ACC members are not eligible to win this contest but may vote like everyone else.

2013 Annual Meeting

The 2013 Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 19th, 2013, 9:30 - 11:00 am at the Prairie Hotel, Bald Hill Conference Room, 700 Prairie Park Lane, Yelm, WA 98597.

Your attendance, either in person or by proxy, is important. We'll vote to elect a new HOA Board of Directors, discuss issues that affect the neighborhood including the HOA dues increase, the 2014 budget, and allow for a question and answer period. The HOA Board will be prepared to answer questions regarding the status of our HOA.

Relevant documents can be found on this website under the "Meeting Schedule" tab. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please consider filling out a ballot and/or proxy so that your vote will count. You can complete the ballot and/or fill out the proxy form with the name of another lot owner who will attend the meeting and have them bring the ballot form and/or proxy to the meeting. You may also check the box that allows the Nisqually Estates Board of Directors to vote on your behalf and return your ballot and/or proxy form to a Board member prior to the meeting.

There will be a question and answer period at the meeting. In order to ensure that your questions are addressed at the annual meeting, please mail them to us or submit them to a Board member. In order for questions to be adequately researched and answered at the Annual Meeting, the questions must be received no later than October 1st. Please mark your calendar and plan on attending. We look forward to seeing you there!

Community Park Improvements!

In case you didn't know...after soliciting homeowner and resident feedback for several months, the HOA Board began a multiphase project to improve our community park on Red Fern Court. The Board voted in July to spend up to $1,100 in improvements this summer which includes new security lighting, repainting, removal of old bark and prep for a community garden. This is just the first phase. We are now getting ready to take the old bark out and are looking for volunteers to help. If you have previously complained or voiced concern about the park or not having a place for your kids to play, then this is your chance to DO SOMETHING and help out with the fix!!! This should not take more than 2 hours of your time. If you can't give 2 hours, ANY time you have available would be great! Please let us know if you are willing to help out and what time works for you. You can comment here or email the Board with your information. Thank you!
