The Yelm Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter is planning a storm cleanup event on Saturday Feb 11th. They would like to focus efforts towards elderly and handicapped individuals who cannot/would struggle to clean up their yards by themselves. If you know of anyone who fits this criteria in the Yelm/McKenna area please contact Matt Mounts or Dusti Nash with a name and phone number so that they can contact the individual. The Yelm FFA office number is 458-2965.

There is some very good news regarding storm cleanup. First, the City of Yelm is now accepting storm debris FREE of charge. Area residents who have woody debris from the recent storms on their property can drop it off at Yelm Public Works, 901 Rhoton Rd NW from January 25 to February 2, 2012. Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Types of Material: Woody storm debris which includes tree branches and trees. Diameter - 6 inches or less. Preferably no more than 6 feet long. No garbage will be accepted. Second, our landscape contractor LawnPros spent considerable time at no additional cost to the HOA clearing debris from both entrances and common areas. There is still some more work and fine tuning to do in the common areas and we are having them return again in early February. We are very happy with LawnPros for their customer service. In fact, they have offered to give Nisqually Meadows residents a special rate for individual homeowner debris removal and tree trimming as a result of the storm because of our existing contract. Homeowners or renters who are interested should call LawnPros at 360-894-6336. Please thank them for the good work they are doing. There is FREE disposal of storm debris at these locations...in Lacey and Rainier. Check out this official website. Lot owners and/or renters are responsible for clearing their own debris. The HOA will take care of common areas.
http://www.co.thurston.wa.us/xml/newsreleases/newsrelease.asp?mod=2&id=308 Work party tomorrow at 10:00 am to help clean up the neighborhood. If you can't show up at that time, please try to help by pulling broken branches and debris off the road, sidewalks and common areas whenever you see it. The HOA Board has contacted the City of Yelm to ask for assistance and will also ask our Landscaping Contract Company to help out in the cleanup. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help out.
With 5-8" of predicted snowfall tonight, many residents are willing to pay your teenagers to shovel their driveways! Here's an opportunity for your children to make some money...some of our residents have contacted us asking for recommendations. Please be safe if you're out there doing it yourself. Here is the link to the National Safety Council Guidelines for snow shoveling: http://www.nsc.org/news_resources/Resources/Documents/Snow_Shoveling.pdf
Just a couple of reminders. First, the 2012 annual assessment of $145.25 is due no later than January 15th, 2012. This year, one polite reminder will go out to those who have not paid and then a lien will be promptly placed on properties that remain past due after 30 days. Thank you to those who have already paid.
Second, the proposed ACC guidelines have been posted on the website since November 24th, 2011. There are just two weeks lefts to provide your comments as the Board will adopt new ACC guidelines next month. Thank you to those who have already provided their input. We have incorporated many of your ideas and comments. If you have not already provided your comments, please do so by January 24th, 2012. We will accept comments by email, via the website or by regular mail. This is your opportunity to have your voice heard. |
